Inspiration
Through personal experience and the realization that life doesn’t have to be as difficult as we sometimes experience it, Georgie discovered the power of therapy. Seeing a therapist changed her life for the better. She’s grateful for the positive impact her therapist had on her life that she was inspired to be there for others who are struggling or looking to make changes.
Education
Georgie earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Sociology/Psychology from the University of Alberta and a Master of Science in Counselling Psychology (with distinction) from the University of West Indies. Her graduate-level education was designed with a strong multicultural focus. She is a registered psychologist in Barbados, where she worked with clients from diverse countries, cultures, ethnicities and beliefs. She’s also a registered provisional psychologist in Alberta.
I am passionate about representing the underrepresented, and if you are experiencing any isms (racism, sexism, ageism, classism, ableism, heterosexism, sizeism, etc.), I am absolutely here for you.
Philosophy
Georgie maintains a personal and professional philosophy that is holistic. She believes that wellness is multi-faceted, including physical, mental, social, occupational, spiritual, and eco-wellness. A disturbance to any of these aspects can have a ripple effect on the others. As a therapist, her role is as a participant in your evolving story and she holds your unique, professional relationship with the highest regard for your wellbeing, comfort and trust.
Vision
Georgie’s goal is to support her clients in a safe, welcoming manner without judgement, and for her clients to experience an atmosphere that embraces their unique experiences and honors their individuality. She deals with a wide range of issues, including: anxiety, assertiveness, bereavement, couples counselling, depression, grief, life transitions, loneliness, nutrition, premarital counselling, relationships, self-esteem, self-compassion, self-concept, setting boundaries, sexuality, shyness, sleep hygiene, and stress. She’s also receiving training to specialize in Sex Therapy under the supervision of Dr. Jason Jones.
